Kush and Cornelius

I just can’t understand why people get so worked up over a couple of harmless little old jokes. Of course I’m referring to those good old peckerwood exemplars of uproarious hilarity Steve Kush, now suspended director of Bernalillo County Republicans and Bob Cornelius, former GOP county director.

During Tuesday night’s Bernalillo Country commission meeting as Working America’s director Chelsey Evans was about to testify in favor of raising the minimum wage, Kush was busy tap, tap, tapping away at his Facebook account about Chelsey’s nice boots. Kush had already twittered that a previous Working America representative was a “radical bitch.”

Now here’s the really funny part. Cornelius, the former Bernalillo GOP director tweeted to Kush, “Maybe she used those boots to walk Central.” Now that is FUN-NY!!! Kush, in the same spirit of unmitigated jocularity, responded that Evans “was hot enough to almost make me register democrat.”
Kush was suspended for his “insensitive” comments, but I really don’t see why. After all conservatives are forever saying funny things about women, things that show Repubs are very manly and exceptionally appropriate. Michael Weiner comes to mind as a great exemplar, as do Todd Akin and Paul Ryan, for that matter.

Of course, the Dems issued their usual response, “Kush and Cornelius are out of touch.” Now, what do they mean, “out of touch?” I think both Kush and Cornelius are very much in touch with their own male feelings, their sense of superior self-efficacy, and, by golly, their sense of high wit.
Kush and Cornelius typify the folks who want to make government so small they can drown it in a bath tub because government is bad, bad, bad. They are very successful too. Witness the fiscal cliff. Witness the recent Sequester that no one said could possibly go through because it was so devastating and so just plain stupid. These are the guys who are just itching to cut Social Security to the bone. They are wanting these cuts so bad for one reason and one reason only—to feed their great sense of fun-filled, tickle ridden, good ol’ boy humor.

Then when the likes of Cornelius and Kush are walking down Central in their great looking spike-heel boots, and they encounter their grandmother or mother digging through a trash bin for food because the women have no more Social Security, Kush can Twitter Cornelius about the how God supports only the rich and how the women bring it all on themselves. Now that is FUN-NY!!!
