Dave Wheelock’s initial enthusiasm for writing opinion columns about crises afflicting the natural world soon took a back seat in favor of his need to learn what was killing it. Since 2004 he has concentrated on systemic and related roots which threaten societies and ecosystems around the earth. 

Mr. Wheelock is a graduate of Santa Fe High School and the University of New Mexico (BA history, 1975). Other interests include fishing, hunting, and rugby football. He has coached and administered sports at New Mexico Tech University in Socorro since 1998. Mr. Wheelock is a member of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin.
