James Moore is an art historian and museum professional, educated at UNM and Indiana University in the field of 19th and 20th century art and American Studies. He taught at Wichita State University, the Toledo Museum of Art / University of Toledo, and was the director of The Albuquerque Museum of Art and History from 1979 to 2005. He has published articles on Ernest Blumenschein, Thomas Cole, John Marin, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Harry Sternberg, as well as essays on a number of New Mexico contemporary artists. His latest work is an article for a Denver Art Museum exhibition catalogue on Taos artists Walter Ufer and E. Martin Hennings, forthcoming from OUPress. In retirement he continues to travel, research, and write. He is currently working on a book of non-fiction short stories.
